There's an Australian hard rock band called the Angels, who have actually had trouble pulling crowds on a tour because 'The Tribute to the Angels Show' had been through the same area a few weeks earlier.<br /><br />If someone wants to dress up as Roy Orbison, that's one thing. I wouldn't cross the road to see it, but if other would, then whatever floats your boat. But when these bands are stealing the acts of working artists, then surely trademarks, patents and copyrights must be involved at some level.<br /><br />I can tolerate tribute acts that have the blessing of the real thing. David Gilmour once hired The Australian Pink Floyd Show to play his birthday, even giving them access to the real Floyd's stage gear because, as Gilmour put it, he'd never seen a Pink Floyd show.
